We all intertwine our identity with external things and people. Whether it’s a sportsball team, a Korean Pop band, an school, a reality TV show, family, friends…political parties.
It’s been biologically proven that when someone has invested enough of their identity with a sports team, they actually feel their wins and losses and internalize them. Riots have occurred many times stemming from a team’s big win (or big loss).
And that’s just sports.
Tomorrow there’s an even bigger thing at stake, and there are millions of Americans that have heavily invested their identities with “their team”. There is a good chance that, if “their team” loses, they will feel it and internalize it.
And there will likely be violence. I hope there isn’t, but given the current climate…
all I can say, is…
Never gonna give you up,
Never gonna let you down,
Never gonna run around and desert you.
Because Rick is how I Roll.
